The Privacy Policy (hereinafter “the policy”) provided below is with respect to our use and protection of any personal information/data you provide to us through our website. SMSV Education is (hereinafter “SMSV”) is the sole owner of the website www.indianonlineschool.com (hereinafter “Website”) and https://portal.indianonlineschool.com (“Portal”).

This Privacy Policy covers the following with respect to “Your Data”: What we collect, How we collect, How we use, Sharing Your Data : How, why and with whom we share, specifically our policy is on registration, use of data of children and Policy on Children, Our Security policies, Your rights with elaborations for specific Jurisdictions, To whom and how we disclose your data, our cookie policy and contact information.

It also covers our practices to comply with the Governing Regulations.

Interpretation: In this Privacy Policy, references to “You”, “Your”, “User” shall mean the end user accessing the Applications and “We”, “Us” and “Our” shall mean the Company, Our affiliates and partners.

This Policy applies when you visit or use our Website, Portal which is our learning platform, mobile applications, or related services, attend experience sessions / demos / classes / training sessions online or physically as a Parent, Student, teacher, prospective teacher or any other stakeholder (the “Services”).

You may be required to provide personally identifiable information at several different points on our Website and Portal. By accepting the policy at the time of registration, you expressly approve and consent to our collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information as described in this Policy.

  1. Information Collection
  • Personal Information : We collect certain data from you directly. This could include information you enter yourself, about you and your child who might be the student, when you register or participate, in demo sessions / training sessions / experience sessions or when you request for information or data, or download information and content, or data you provide when you are accessing the Services. In addition, we may also collect any data from other stakeholders with whom you interact such as Google or other advertising services. In line with Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule (“COPPA”) – A student can be enrolled in our program only with due parental consent. The account is mapped to the parent and not to the child.
  • Usage data : We also collect some data automatically, like information about performance across various SMSV platform(s), usage logs when using the SMSV platform including worksheets, teacher/instructor interaction, interaction with other participants in class, audio video logs, device details and details on parts of our Services you interact with, and spend time.
  • Registering as a student : Minors are not allowed to register on the Services provided by SMSV as a student on their own. Parents / legal Guardians will have to register on behalf of students for services that require login credentials. At all times every registered student is linked to a “Parent”.

The data collected by SMSV is as below:

  • Account Data (Students/ Parents and Teachers): To use certain features (like enrolling in a course or demo session for a course), you need to register and create an user account. When you create or update your account, we ask for, collect and store the data you provide not limited to, like your phone number, email address, students name (student being the child of a “Parent”), school name, school grade, exams enrolled by students including the information such as subject and roll number, Parent name, city, and assign you a unique identifying number (“Account Data”).
  • Personal Data: You may also choose to provide your personal information like a child photo, social media profiles, or other data, called as Profile Data. Your Profile Data will be publicly viewable by others.
  • Teacher’s / Instructor’s personal data: If you register as a teacher / instructor / mentor / counsellor you must provide personal biographical and academic accreditation, professional qualifications, work history, in addition to location and residency status. We will attempt to verify information provided by you through trusted / empanelled partners. We may share information you have provided with other stakeholders like parents, other teachers / mentors / counsellors or operations teams, to ensure quality, to maintain standards and facilitate smooth operations.
  • Courses/class data: When you enrol in and avail of demos / courses/ or interact with a teacher/instructor , we collect certain data including the material/courses accessed, assigned, performance including speed, accuracy of the assignments across learning materials, attendance, data on your exchanges with teachers / instructors and other students and other related items basis course requirements. We also maintain logs of communication, access, and instruction such as interaction with teachers on Video, Audio or chat mediums as used in the class. These logs are used to audit for class performance of teachers / instructors by our operations teams for quality assurances and improvement purposes.
  • Payment Data: If you make purchases, we collect certain data about your purchase (such as your name pin/zip/geography code, currency, payment instrument) as necessary to process your order. You must provide certain payment and billing data directly to our payment processing partners, including your name, payment instrument information such as debit/credit card information, payment provider login, billing address, and geo/pin/zip code. For security, we do not collect or store sensitive cardholder data, such as full debit/credit card numbers or card authentication data.
  • Teacher’s / Instructor’s / Mentor’s Payment Data: If you are a teacher/instructor/mentor, you need to share your bank account details along with any applicable tax identification such as Permanent account number or any other relevant identification mandated by relevant tax authorities to receive payments. We collect and use certain information, including your payment account, email address, account ID, physical address, Bank identification details such as IFSC code and/or other data necessary for us to send payments to your account.
  • Customer service / communications and Support: If you contact us for a query, seeking resolution to a grievance or support in any other matter, or to report a problem or concern (regardless of whether you are a registered user or have created an account), we will collect and store your contact information, details of messages including medium and content of the message, in addition to personal identifying data about you like your name, email address, contact number, location, device, device OS details, IP address or other device identification, and any other data you provide or that we collect through other automated means. We will use the data so collected to provide a response to you and undertake measures to pro-actively respond to potential similar requests in the future from you or other users in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • Usage Data: Usage data about your or your students interactions with the Services, including content accessed, courses accessed on our platform, demo courses and sessions, events accessed and participation including platform and performance statistics such as question level performance and performance on timed assessments, time spent on worksheets, apps or web pages, games, or other parts of the Service, pages visited, features used such as games played, content downloaded, your click data including search queries, date and time, your communication on the platform with teachers/instructors/mentors/ and other students and other data regarding your use of the Services (“Usage Data”)
  • Rank data: as part of the Services, we will ask the data related to enrolment by students for the different Olympiad exams including but not limited, enrolled for Olympiad exams (national and international level), subjects, roll number, date of exam, result (this will include the school, zonal, regional, national, international rank etc).
  • Parent feedback and review: we encourage parents to share their reviews and feedback either video or written through not limited to, social media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube etc, Google reviews, through email to the SMSV email id, through Whats App.
  1. Cookies

Cookies are small bits of information that Website and Portal place on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies remember information about your activities while using our Services about your activities and other non-personally identifiable information about you may also be used to limit the online ads you encounter to those we believe are consistent with your interests.

Third party advertisements displayed on Website and Portal may also contain cookies set by Internet advertising companies or advertisers. SMSV does not control these advertiser cookies, and visitors to our web site should check the privacy policy of the Internet advertising company or advertiser to see whether and how it uses cookies.

Our Website and Portal may be linked to Internet sites operated by other companies. Some of these third party sites may be co-branded with our logo, even though they are not operated or maintained by us.

We use commonly used 3rd party advertising services e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Google Display network, and other such display and advertising networks for our promotional and advertising purposes. These ads may be served to you based on information that the advertising networks have about you based on their data. They may also be based on what we have come to know about your preferences from your data with us, and may be customised for your specific interests.

These 3rd party advertising services typically use cookies on your device and or browser in order to track data about your use of our Services and other services you may use on their networks to customise the advertisements for you. In order to deliver customised content and advertising we may provide these 3rd part advertising networks with a masked version of your data, in a machine readable, but not human readable form, including contact data. This may be based on information content and reviews that you share publicly on our Services.

We use commonly used third-party analytics tools and services such as Google Analytics amongst others. These 3rd party services use Data Collection Tools and mechanisms to help analyse your use of the Services provided by us. These often include visit data such as origination details of your visit, length, frequency and other such data, type of pages and material accessed and used, and in case of mobile, applications will include data on, from where the application was downloaded and installed on your device.

  1. How do we use our users data?

If you choose to provide us with the above mentioned information, you consent to the use, transfer, processing and storage of the information so provided by you on our servers. The information provided by you shall not be given to third parties (third parties for this purpose do not include our group / holding / subsidiary companies and or our service partners / associates) for marketing purposes and other related activities without your prior consent. Though if you choose to make your profile visible, all information pertaining to your profile will be visible to third parties. The information provided by you shall be used by us to:

  • Improve our Website and Portal which enable us to provide you the most user-friendly experience which is safe, smooth and customized;
  • Information received is used to create the profiles and user credentials at Portal and Microsoft Office 365 (“MSO”) for students to join the classes, access reading material, attempt the worksheet, practice sheets, mock test, practice test etc.
  • Improve and customize our services, content and other commercial / non-commercial features on the website;
  • Sending you profile / administrative information, including messages from teachers and other staff, notifications including push notifications about changes to our Service, and updates to our agreements.
  • Sending you information in program and in-app messages about your progress on the learning platform, courses, referral and other rewards, new services offerings, promotions, newsletters, and other such communication to which you have the ability to opt out of.
  • We share certain data about you with our Stakeholders which does mean — instructors (Teachers), our business partners, analytics and data enrichment providers, your social media providers, companies helping us run promotions and surveys, and advertising companies who help us promote our Services. We may also share your data as needed for security, legal compliance, or as part of a corporate restructuring.
  • Manage your account and profile preferences
  • Contact you to get your opinion on our current products and services or possible new products and/or services that may be offered by us.
  • Send you information on our products, Services, special deals, promotions, program details, online classes details, upcoming batch announcement, new program launch, through email, message/what’s app on your mobile number etc;
  • To Administer Promotions and Surveys: We may share your data as necessary to administer, market, or sponsor promotions and surveys you choose to participate in, as required by applicable law (like to provide a winners list or make required filings), or in accordance with the rules of the promotion or survey.
  • Ask you to send feedback on any or all of our services;
  • Send you marketing/promotional communications (If you do not wish to receive such marketing/promotional communications from us you may indicate your preferences at the time of registration or by following the instructions provided on the Website and Portal or by providing instructions to this effect);
  • We will publish our students achievements across multiple Olympiad exams on our Website and our Social Media platforms which will include photo of child, grade of study, rank secured etc.
  • We will publish feedback and reviews (video or written) shared by Parent on our Website/Portal and our Social Media platforms which may include photo of child, parent.
  • Create various surveys and analysis in form of reports;
  • Send newsletter(s) to you (Provided you subscribe to the same)
  • Send you service-related announcements on rare occasions when it is necessary to do so;
  • Provide you the opportunity to participate in contests or surveys on our website (If you participate, we may request certain additional personally identifiable information from you. Moreover, participation in these surveys or contests is shall be completely voluntary and you therefore shall have a choice whether or not to disclose such additional information);
  • Contact you or send you e-mail or other communications regarding updates on our website, new job opportunities, services and additional/new job postings/openings which may be of your interest.
  • Provide customer support and the services you request; ascertain how many people visit our website, of what kind and what areas they visit, on our website;
  • Resolve disputes, if any and troubleshooting;
  • Avoid/check illegal and/or potentially prohibited activities and to enforce Agreements
  • Provide service updates and promotional offers related to our services/products.

  • The decision to provide personal information is voluntary. If you do not wish to provide the personal information requested you may do so, however, you may not be able to proceed with the activity or receive the benefit for which the personal information is being requested;

  • Detect, prevent, or otherwise address security and/or technical issues;
  • Respond to Claims of third parties;

Except as provided in this statement, SMSV does not use your personal information for a purpose other than the stated purpose for which such information is collected.

Personal information given to SMSV may be transferred across state and country borders for data consolidation, storage, and simplified information management.

  1. Security Policy

We use appropriate security based on the type and sensitivity of data being stored. There is always a risk of unauthorised access with internet-enabled system, it is important to protect your password and to contact us if you suspect any unauthorised access to your account.

SMSV does not collect information about the Users of the Applications from other sources, such as public records or bodies, or private organisations, save and except as provided in this Privacy Policy.

It is expressly stated that the SMSV shall not be responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties that receive the Users’ personal data or events that are beyond the reasonable control of the SMSV including, acts of government, computer hacking, unauthorized access to computer data and storage device, computer crashes, breach of security and encryption, etc.

  1. Access of Information

All the information, including Personal Information, provided by the Users (the “User Information”) is maintained by the SMSV in electronic form on online servers/cloud systems and shall be accessible by certain employees of SMSV. The User Information may also be converted to physical form from time to time. Regardless of the manner of storage, the Company will keep all User Information confidential, and will only disclose User Information to the persons mentioned below:

All the SMSV employees and data processors, who have access to, and are associated with the processing of User Information, are obliged to respect the confidentiality of User Information.

SMSV may provide the User Information to third party service providers to work on behalf of or with SMSV to provide the Users with the necessary assistance, to help SMSV communicate with the Users or to maintain the Services.

Notwithstanding the above, SMSV shall not be responsible for any breach of security or for any actions of any third parties that receive the User Information or events that are beyond the reasonable control of SMSV including, acts of government, computer hacking, unauthorised access to computer data and storage device, computer crashes, breach of security and encryption, etc.

  1. Do not share Password and OTP

Your password and OTPs are an important part of our security system, and it is your responsibility to protect it. You should not share your password / OTP with any third party, and if you believe your password or account has been compromised, you should change it immediately and contact contact@indianonlineschool.com with detail concerns.

  1. Changing Your Personal Information

You can access and modify your personal information by signing on to the Portal and MSO. We will not modify the information provided by you. However, we recommend that you update your personal information as soon as such changes are necessitated.

 

Where you make a public posting, you may not be able to change or remove it nor shall you be able to close your account. Upon your request, we will close your account and remove your personal information from view as soon as reasonably possible, based on your account activity and in accordance with applicable law(s). However, we will retain your personal information from closed accounts to comply with law, Avoid/check illegal and/or potentially prohibited activities and to enforce User Agreements; Comply with any court judgment / decree / order / directive / legal & government authority /applicable law; Investigate potential violations or applicable national & international laws; Investigate deliberate damage to the website/services or its legitimate operation; Detect, prevent, or otherwise address security and/or technical issues; Protect the rights, property or safety of SMSV and/or its Directors, employees and the general public at large; Respond to Claims of third parties; and take such other actions as may be permitted by law.

SKMSV may, from time to time, make changes to this Policy. We will post those changes to this Policy statement and such other places we deem appropriate so that you are updated about the manner we collect information, what information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.
