Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF)

Science Olympiad Foundation is generally a Not-for-profit organization and established to promote Science, Mathematics, Computer Education, English, Social Studies, General Knowledge and professional courses Computer and General Knowledge. SOF is working from close to 25 years to promote scientific attitude through innovative activities and use of IT in learning process that involve school students across the globe.

SOF conducts Olympiad exam for quantitative and qualitative assessment at the national/international level in order to build up the scientific, commercial and IT talent pool.

Awards/Scholarships/Recognitions

Students are be awarded based on their School, Zonal and International ranks for year 2021-22. School principals and teachers will be felicitated based on performance of schools at International, Zonal and District level with cash awards, trophies, gifts and citations.

Note- Each winner will be entitled to one award for an exam. The winners will be eligible for the higher-level award accruing only. For example- top 3 rank holders at international level will be entitled to awards based on their International ranks. Awards accruing to them for Zonal ranks will be pass to the next rank holder. Similarly, school award accruing to a Zonal award winner will be pass to the next rank holder.

Award and gifts provided for exams to be conducted during 2021-22 is as per below table, all numbers are cumulative for all 7 exams and for all classes.

* If two or more students achieve the same international rank, cash award in the applicable category will be distributed as under:

Upto 5 students getting the same rank, award amount will be distributed equally and additionally, each winner will be awarded a medal (in the applicable category) and a Certificate.

If 6 or more students get the same rank, in lieu of cash award, each winner will be awarded gifts worth Rs.1,000/- plus a medal ( in the applicable category) and a Certificate.

At school level

Gold Medal of Excellence will be awarded on following criteria:

  • All students scoring 100% marks
  • Top rank holder in a class if 5 to 9 students writing the exam from a class.
  • Top three rank holder in a class if 10 to 25 students writing the exam from a class.
  • Top 10% rank holder in a class if more than 25 students writing the exam from a class.

Student Performance Report (SPR) for each participating student in digital format.

  • All student appearing in any SOF-Olympiad exam will be getting Student Performance Report (SPR). SPR provides the detail analysis of how the student attempted the 1st level Olympiad exam. Student will receive the SPR in digital form.
  • SPR provide the insight to the student to understand her/his strengths and areas requiring improvement in absolute terms and also on a competitive scale consisting of lacs of students of her/his class who appeared for the Olympiad.

The SPR consists of six sections:

  • Section A –student’s marks and rank achieved in School / City / Zone / Region at international level.
  • Section B – section wise performance score of the student.
  • Section C – provides correct answers to questions asked in the Olympiad exam, the answers given by the student. This section also includes performance comparison of the student’s answers vs other students in the Zone and at the international level.
  • Section D –percentage score analysis of the student with a comparison with the Class, City, Zone, Region and international level.
  • Section E –comparison of average marks analysis at the School, City, Zone, Region and international level.
  • Section F –comparison of the student’s performance in the Olympiad exams during the past 10 years.

Participation Certification to each student – all student will receive the certificate in digital form

Merit Certificate to 2nd level participants

Medals of Distinction will be awarded to top 25 rank holders from each class & each Olympiad exam. This will be applicable for winners from 26 Zones for performance in the 1st level Olympiads/ single level Olympiads.

Second level Exams – will depend on the prevalent conditions due to Coronavirus at that time leading to feasibility of conducting 2nd level exams in all states. If 2nd level exams are not conducted, results of 1st level exams will be treated as final results.

Principal’s awards are based on cumulative performance of schools in all Olympiad exams. Teacher awards are based on school performance in individual Olympiads.

At School Level- Certificates of Appreciation to school Principals & Teacher In-Charges

Special Scholarships

Girl Child Scholarship Scheme (GCSS): – 300 Nos.

300 girls will Rs 5,000 each scholarship who are academically inclined but come from economically modest families.

Scholarship for Excellence in English (SEE): – 120 Nos.

120 students exhibiting excellence in English Language will get Merit Certificate.

SOF – Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES): – 208 Nos.

Trophy plus Merit Certificate to 208 students from class three to class ten. Student who is scoring highest number of marks in 4 Olympiad exams during the year wins the AES. Winners will be selected for all 26 zones / states. And weightage may be accorded to different Olympiads
