FAQs

The SOF International Hindi Olympiad (IHO) is a Hindi language competition conducted by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for students from Classes 1 to 10. It helps students improve their Hindi grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, and language skills.

Any student studying in Class 1 to Class 10 can participate in the SOF IHO through their school. Schools register interested students, making it easy for them to appear for the exam.

The SOF IHO syllabus is based on the Hindi curriculum followed by CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and State Boards. It includes grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, language skills, Logical Reasoning, and the Achievers Section. The syllabus varies according to the student's class.

No. SOF IHO has only one level of examination. Students from Classes 1 to 10 appear for Level 1, and there is no Level 2 for this Olympiad.

SOF IHO rankings are based on the total marks scored in the exam. If two or more students score the same marks, SOF uses a tie-breaking process by comparing marks in important sections of the paper to determine the final rankings fairly.

Students should first understand the basic grammar rules taught in school. Regular practice of व्याकरण (Grammar), शब्दावली (Vocabulary), अपठित गद्यांश (Reading Comprehension), and भाषा कौशल (Language Skills), along with solving sample papers and previous years' questions, can help improve accuracy and confidence.

NCERT books provide a strong foundation, but they may not be enough for Olympiad preparation. Students should also practise Olympiad-level questions, sample papers, mock tests, and previous years' question papers.
