What is CREST?
CREST Olympiad is the online Olympiad Exam that tests the conceptual understanding of each student. CREST Olympiads are conducted in areas of Science, Mathematics, English, Computer, Reasoning and Spell Bee. CREST exams focuses on practical application of theoretical concepts.
Eligibility for CREST
Level 1 :- Students from Nursery to Class 12 are eligible to participate in CREST Olympiads, depending on the exam. Students from CBSE, ICSE, State Boards, IB, Cambridge, and other recognized boards can participate. There is no minimum percentage requirement, and students can register through their school or individually. CREST Olympiads are also open to international students.
Level 2 :- Level 2 is conducted only for selected CREST Olympiads. Students qualify for Level 2 based on their Level 1 performance. For most subjects (such as Mathematics, Science, English, and Spell Bee Summer), top-performing students meeting the prescribed cut-off are eligible for Level 2.
CREST Registration Details
Students can register for CREST Olympiads either through their school or individually. Individual registrations can be completed online by filling out the registration form, selecting the desired Olympiad, and paying the registration fee. School registrations are coordinated by the school, while individually registered students appear for the exam from home through the online proctored platform.
CREST Syllabus
The CREST Olympiads syllabus is primarily based on the CBSE, ICSE, and other recognized school board curricula for the respective class. It covers the prescribed academic concepts while also including application-based, analytical, and higher-order thinking (HOTS) questions to assess conceptual understanding. CREST : Mark Allocation
The marking scheme in CREST Olympiads varies by exam and class, but the general pattern is:
- Regular Section: 1 mark for each question.
- Achiever’s/Advanced Section: 2 marks for each question.
- No negative marking for incorrect answers.
- Most Olympiads are conducted for 45–60 minutes, depending on the class and subject.
- The total marks generally range from 30 to 120, depending on the Olympiad and grade level.
CREST: Ranking and Results
CREST Olympiads results are usually declared within a few weeks after the last exam date and can be accessed online through the student dashboard. Rankings are determined primarily by the marks obtained. In case of a tie, factors such as time taken to complete the exam, student’s age (younger student ranked higher), and normalization across different exam sessions are considered. Based on their performance, students receive international, zonal, and school ranks, along with medals, certificates, trophies, scholarships, and other awards for top achievers.
