Best Olympiads for Math

Math Olympiads take place globally, acknowledging students who excel in mathematics across various grade levels. These competitions offer opportunities for participants to earn certifications, awards, and even scholarships for further studies. The International Math Olympiad, renowned for nurturing mathematical talent, serves as an excellent platform to identify and reward exceptional math enthusiasts worldwide.

Here, in current blog, we shall provide an insight for India’s best Math Olympiad exams.

1. HBCSE (Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education) – Mathematical Olympiad

The Mathematical Olympiad program, organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) of the Government of India, is designed to facilitate Indian students’ participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). This initiative by NBHM aims to identify and nurture mathematical talent among pre-university students across the country.

All over the country 25 regions have been designated and each assigned a Regional Coordinator (RC) for the selection and training of students for Olympiad contest. . Three groups (Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathana (KVS) appoint a ‘Regional Coordinator’ each. The Mathematical Olympiad programme is of six stages.

  1. Stage 1 – Pre- Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO)
  2. Stage 2 – Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)
  3. Stage 3 – Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)
  4. Stage 4 – International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC)
  5. Stage 5 – The selected team is given rigorous training for the subject for about 8-10 days at HBCSE prior to its departure for the IMO. The students are accompanied by teachers or mentors at this stage. The Olympiad programme ends with the participation of the Indian students in the IMO.
